T1 is a varied style encompassing the sub-styles known as: multi-para, and para. Although the action may prove to be somewhat slower in T1 styles when compared to T2 & Freestyle, the opportunity for imagination, and intelligent roleplay is much higher. Through the medium of T1, you are given the opportunity to truly describe and enliven your character in your and your opponent's mind.
Being a formal style, T1 has rules that must be followed or you may risk disqualification. In T1, each character makes a post, then waits for the next player to post. Probably the most important aspect of T1 is the intro. Intros tend to be rather long, for good reason. Although it isn't absolutely required, it is advised to be as descriptive as possible. In an intro, you must describe the environment, physical appearance of your character, and any weapons your character may be wielding. Keep in mind that in an intro you are describing only your character and the environment. Please also be aware that if you forget to list an important aspect of your character in the intro (for instance the fact that they have a sword) and you use that forgotten information during the fight. You could be forced to ignore the sword or forgotten object. Neither players while stating their intros may make an attack or begin preparing for an attack. An intro is simply to make your presence known and give your opponent a bit of information about your character.
Now for the different sub-styles of T1. They are as follows: Multi-para, and para. The rules for all these styles are the same, merely the length of posts for each sub-style is different. In multi-para rping the length must be at least 8 lines and consist of at least 2 paragraphs. Although within this specific sub-style there are no maximum limits as to how long a post may be. Para as a rule must be at least 4 lines, but should not get much longer than 8 lines.
While T1 is a very creative style in which almost anything is possible. There are rules to inhibit those who do not wish to play fairly. God-moding is when a character is invincible according to the manner in which the character is being played. This is not allowed. All characters can be defeated with the right strategies, and teamwork. Your goal while rping should not be to make an invincible character who can never die, but rather to make an interesting character who will advance the story. This isn't to say that some characters can't be vastly superior to other characters. Just that if they are it should be agreed upon or there should be a very specific reason. Autoing is when a character's attack also "connects" in the same post. This is not allowed. You must give your opponent a chance to dodge, block, or react in some way to your attack in the way they see most fit to react. Autoing is also when a character is attacked but no matter what, they just shrug it off without giving a sufficient description of how and why they were able to do so.
As for powerups, or setups, you must give a proper amount of posts to prepare for a healing, powering up, or setting up some special skill that is not readily available, or a very powerful skill which needs a little time to set up. As a rule, the longer you use to set up the action, the more powerful and/or widespread it will be. Use common sense when prepping a skill. As long as both parties are okay with the amount prepped then it's fine but a general guideline is: 1 post to set up a small trap, or focus yourself for a very strong or accurate attack, or in the case of ritualized magic or any magic with which some preparation must be made. 2 posts to perform a small healing, to create a moderate magical spell, or set up a very complicated trap. 3 posts to perform a strong healing, summon some kind of magical creature, cast strong offensive/defensive magic, etc. Really think about your character and the power of the skill before you decide how many posts should be used to prep.
The main goal of rp is to have fun. While competition and fighting can enrich the rp experience. It shouldn't dominate it. (unless of course the rp is about fighting) Play according to your skills and keep others in mind. If you're someone who tries to break the rules every chance you get then no one will be sticking around to rp with you and you could risk being banned. So, just play to have fun and if you have any questions then don't hesitate to ask any of the mods or the Admin. We're here to help. Thanks for reading this. I hope it was enlightening.
