Cassie, a small blond girl of 8 sat outside the abandoned ruins of a massive castle. Beautiful as it was in the midday sun, it still retained its glory. Wrapped in vines that invited flowers, even the cracks became home to small animals and birds. Directly beside it was a massive lake, unnatually formed. Perhaps it had come about after what ever struck the castle, and then filled in with rain water. What ever the reason, it was now full of life. Cassie paced its river banks, her long golden hair hanging about her hips as she knelt down to pluck a flower from its shallow shore. Pretty pink petals, much like the dress she wore, with fresh dirt where her knees had been kneeling.
Such a lovely little fairy fantasy, wasn't it? The girl turned around, black petals falling down to her bare toes. A minute source of life, that flower offered, she thought to herself. Besides her, she was in the company of a rather protective wolf who layed inside. While she wouldn't harm him, that left her with a poor source of power. She glanced back to the castle, which had a large crack in its side. To dark to see far inside, she frowned a little.
He'd kill her, if she knew what form she was in right now. She laughed in her mind to the irony, before her body knelt on all fours, reverting to the form of a small golden cat. She padded towards the large steps, seeing a particularly nice patch of sun to bathe in. He hated humans. He told her this time and time again, about how they had treated him. He was a vicious looking wolf, and any human would be on its best guard, and for good reason. Natural enemies one would say. That left Cassie rather lonely at times.
Her golden fur nearly glowed as she laid down in her cat form on the gray stone steps, sun glistening off each golden hair. Some company would be nice, even if they didnt 'stay' long.
